They manufactured instruments under their own name and also manufactured "stenciled" instruments for Olds, Conn, and Linton. Malerne Company factory was located in the "woodwind district" outside Paris, close to the Buffet and Selmer factories. (Mouthpiece, cap, and ligature NOT included.) Serial #2050.

A new hard case is included with the instrument. The instrument plays well and would be a good substitute for a newer plastic instrument. The instrument was oiled and metal parts ultrasonically cleaned. The instrument has been recently overhauled, with white leather pads, Selmer-style resonators on the larger pads, a tenon sleeve to improve the center tenon fit, and an adjustment screw added to the left hand F key. This vintage intermediate wooden bass clarinet was previously used in a public school ("MUHS" is etched on the bell).
